Freshman Reflection
At the end of middle school I saw myself as one of the most popular and smartest people in my school. I said to myself that high school would be just as easy as middle school. But I was wrong. Now that I've experienced a full year of high school I realized that popularity gets you nothing but attention. It doesn't get you good grades, perfect attendence, good work habits just attention. I personally have become a completly different student I have matured and truly finally realized the meaning of school. My expectations were very simple make friends, make the basketball team and get all A's and B's. But only 1 of my 3 goals came to pass. And as I sit here and write this I realize that everything I wanted to do could have gotten done but I let my laziness and fear get in the way of the that. Since coming to high school a family member that I don't see as frequently as I like to is my grandmom. I believe my grades werent as good the year before because I didn't have someone I could to for help or keep on track to completing my homework. I believe that my relationship with my dad has changed a lot. There used to be a time when my dad told me how he loved to talk to people about how well I was doing. But now it seems that he's just bracing hiself for one dissapointment after the other. But I want to and know I can change things. My opinion of people has changed over the year especially the people who I calle my friends but they weren't really. I realized that true would'nt try to bring you down but instead keep you up and help you maintain grades you aim for. I have become more optimistic about my future because I realized all the mistakes I have made and have learned from them therefore that making a better person from the outcome. Something I started to do new is treat my younger brother more nice. I've done this because it seemed like I was always downing him so I changed that and not only has our relationship become better but I also feel better. The way changed as a student since coming to parkway is I am now realizing the importance of school. I see now that it's not a social hour its a place where you come to learn. But that doesn't mean you can't meet good friends along the way.

Rajon Rondo's 44 points!
Rajon Rondo’s monster performance in Game 2 against the Heat last Wednesday night was basically for nothing because Miami beat Boston in overtime. But Rondo’s performance won’t soon be forgotten. Call it the Rondo game: all 53 minutes played, 44 points on 16 of 24 shooting, 10 assists and eight rebounds. This isn't the greatest playoff performance ever seen but for a player who usually dishes the ball out more than shooting it is. People, sports analyst and fans frequently criticize his poor jump shooting but that night he was red hot from everywhere except where he usually dominates and that's inside the lane.. And to not only to add on to a monster scoring performance he had a great passing display as well dishing out his usual 10 assist also adding 8 rebounds. Even though in that game he played his heart out his team was still unable to hold on to the lead. Many people say that since the Boston Celtics is losing their dominate force in the "Big 3" Rondo has too not only maintain his current all star stats but increase his scoring to become a true superstar in the league. One reason Rondo can be a threat is it's almost impossible to guard him due to the fact that he can hurt you in so many different ways. Either its dishing out a beautifully placed pass or faking you out and quickly getting to the lane or just a simple pull up for a 15 ft. jumper.

The Ultimate Sacrifice(This I Believe...)
Army Major Peter Godfrin wears a bracelet that has the name of a young Sergeant who he worked with who was killed by a landmine. He believes that the ultimate sacrifice is taking your life too save someone else's. He believes this because the sergeant he worked along jumped on a landmine to save his team from certain death. He also feels like a great man was taken from this world and he should be permenantly indebted to him. In his opinion "he was a good kid who loved what he did and loved even more what he was fighting for". I honestly completely with . his statement because the greatest sacrafice a person can make is to not only devote their life to something but actually give up their lives for a cause greater than them. He was agreat guy who always would think of others rather than himself first said Godfrin. I believe that Army Major Peter Godfrin will never forget about the young who lost his life to save many others.

Broadcasting....whiteness
I have recently read an article talking about shows that have many white characters showing little to no contact witht any other races but their own. That show that has been brought up is the show Girls on HBO. There have been many shows like this such as Full House, The Jersey Shore, Make it or Break it , Drake & Josh and the list continues. I personally do not mind if there are a variety of different races because honestly it doesnt matter to me as long as I'm getting some form of entertainment. I also believe its a good thing because usually in a diverse cast anyone other than wite people are portrayed as simple minded fools. But truthfully there are many shows that are polar opposites such as The Cosby Show, Keenan & Kel, The Jeffersons and Sanford and Son. These shows featured little to no white people at all. One show that surprising has no black people what so ever is ABC's Modern Family. It features many races buit not African American. In conclusion I personally don't mind what race is on my T.V screen as long as it amuses ME what does it really matter.

New Fashion Wrinkle
Woolrich , a 182-year-old clothing company, this company as you see has been around for many years and is very popular for their fashion statement and way of attire .This clothing company now has so new adjustments . they have clothing that you are able to hide weapons in such as guns, and knifes. This company has made a lot of money off of these clothing’s to customers. I believe that this line of clothes is extremely unessacary . I believe it supports all the wrong reasons I mean really who wants special clothing to hide their weapons. To be realistic I believe that this type of paraphernalia should only be sold to be in the army or police men, because they need it. To me it supports all the wrong reasons, it probably make people eager to purchase un needed weapons.”The chinos, that cost 65.00$, are not for commandos, but rather, the company says, for the fashion-aware gun owner. And Woolrich has competition” So this mean that wool rich isn’t the only company. And some frugal people might think that these items are quite expensive .But that does matter if it well quality. Many people who are actually in the army , appreciate these clothing items. Shawn Thomson 35 yrs, who works at an auto dealership in eastern Kentucky brought two shirts recently , and he wrote on his blog that “Most of the clothes I used in the past to hide my side arm looked pretty sloppy and had my girlfriend complaining about my looks” So that’s one complaint.

Indonesian Earthquake
A major earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia Wednesday afternoon with a reported magnitude of 8.6, sparking tsunami warnings for Australia and coastal nations across Southeast Asia, central Asia and parts of the Arabian Gulf. Experts said early indications were that the quake, which struck around 2:30 p.m. local time, was caused by a horizontal shift in the earth’s plates of a type less likely to cause severe tsunamis than vertical shifts, which tend to displace larger volumes of water. No one had any indication that the earthquake was coming so when it hit many people lost their lives to a natural disaster that no one could have predicted. They also say that tsunami warnings have been anounced throughout the 2 days. Many people were terrified when they felt this massive quake shook their home. This quake devestated millions of indonesian people men, women, children and old alike.

Afghan girls rying to be denied schooling rights by terrorist
In "Afghan Girls, Scarred by Acid, Defy Terror, Embracing School" Dexter Filkins explores the topic of girls in Afghanistan not being able to go to school without them and their parents fearing them getting hurt. Most of the girls that were injured while trying to go to school, did not want to go back because they feared what would happen if they did.
The article has quotes from girls that were apart of this, their parents, and the principle. One very important fact that I found in this article was that even though some girls suffered injuries from trying to go to school, they still went even in fear of getting hurt badly or even killed.
I think that girls should be able to go to school and get an education, just as males are able to. The reason I think that girls should have the same rights to learn as men is because no one wants a wife who cant even read. Plus if she stays at home all day where will your kids get their knowledge from?
I believe this is extremely wrong because people of their own nation still prefer believe that woman of that country should be simple minded nd uneducated as past generations.
